DocFill operates entirely on your local device. We do not transmit, read, or store any of your private document content or placeholder data on our servers. Your documents never leave your computer.
Data Processing
DocFill processes your document content entirely within your browser. Here is exactly what happens:
- DocFill scans your Word document for
{{placeholder}}markers and builds a fill form - When you click "Fill Document," DocFill replaces placeholders with the values you entered
- Filled values are tracked using Word's built-in content controls so they can be reset back to placeholders if needed
None of these operations involve any network requests. All processing runs locally in your browser session.
Data Storage
DocFill stores a small amount of configuration data in your browser's localStorage. This includes:
- Field labels you have customized
- Field types (text, date, long text)
- Date format preferences
This configuration data:
- Never leaves your device
- Is not sent to any server
- Is not shared with any third party
- Can be cleared at any time through your browser settings
Data Collection
DocFill does not collect any personal information. Specifically, we do not use:
- Analytics or usage tracking
- Cookies
- Telemetry
- Error reporting services
- Advertising or marketing pixels
Your Documents Stay on Your Device
Your document content is never transmitted to our servers. Two external resources are loaded when DocFill starts:
- Add-in code -- served from Cloudflare Pages (our hosting provider)
- Office.js library -- served from Microsoft's CDN (required for all Office add-ins)
After these files load, all document processing happens entirely within your browser. No document text, placeholder values, or filled content is ever sent anywhere.
Third Parties
DocFill does not share any data with third parties. The only external resource loaded is:
- Microsoft Office.js -- the standard library required for all Office add-ins, loaded from Microsoft's CDN
No user data, document content, or usage information is transmitted to Microsoft, Cloudflare, or any other third party through DocFill.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this privacy policy, we will revise this page with the new date. If we ever introduce features that change how data is handled (such as server-side processing), we will update this policy before those features are released.
